Subway Youth Football Clinic

Free OVAC Youth Football Clinic Set for Saturday, July 23 WHEELING, WV — To kickoff the beginning of the 2016-17 ‘SUBWAY Sports Clinic Series’ the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference will be hosting its annual free youth football clinic in conjunction with the ‘Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Charity Football Classic presented by Huntington Bank & WTOV9.’ The clinic will take place the day of the game on Saturday, July 23, at the Wheeling Island Stadium. Registration will take place at the Stadium from noon to 12:45 p.m. The clinic will last from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. It will be led by Bill Garvey and his Bethany College coaching staff. Additionally, Linsly School’s Head Coach, BJ Depew and members from his coaching staff will assist. The instructors will teach the basic fundamentals of football with a focus on building self-esteem. The clinic is free and open to boys and girls ages 6-13. Parents or legal guardians are required to have insurance and be present the day of the clinic to sign a waiver form. Along with SUBWAY the youth clinic is sponsored by AM 1600 WKKX, Wheeling Hospital, Bordas & Bordas, The Health Plan and the ‘Family Talk About Drinking’ initiative.” The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference is the largest functional high school athletic conference in the United States. It is comprised of 52 member schools with 12,000 athletes and 21,000 students that stretches across two states (Ohio and West Virginia) and 18 counties. The annual ‘Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Charity Football Classic presented by Huntington Bank & WTOV9’ is slated for Saturday, July 23, at Wheeling Island Stadium with kickoff planned for 7:15 p.m. Tickets will be available the week leading up to the game at area Kroger stores, Smitty’s Floors and other Ohio Valley retail locations that can be found on line at the OVAC’s official website, www.OVAC.org.
